Left: Parking Sign.
The normal form of Regulatory Sign is a
rectangular sign with the long axis vertical,
and black lettering on a white
background. The sign advises of
something which the driver must do,
or face the consequences of
prosecution under the law.

| Right: No U Turn Sign.
This regulatory sign incoporates the use
of red. This is becoming more common
on these types of signs and is usually
incorporated to indicate a prohibited
action. This particular sign conveys its
message in both symbol and words.

Left: Stop Sign.
The Stop sign is distinctive in both shape
and colour. It is the only octagonal
shaped sign which is used, and uses the
easily recognised white on red colouring.
The large amount of red colouring is used
because red is usually associated with
danger or hazard.

| Right: Give Way Sign.
Like the stop sign, the Give Way sign is
distinctive in both shape and colouring.
the triangular shape and red and white
background colours make it easily
recognisable, which minimises driver
reaction time.

regulations but uses a green on white
colouring rather than the traditional
black on white. Blue on white is also
sometimes used.
