Signs for Roadworks and Special Purposes

Left: Roadwork Ahead Sign.

The normal form of Roadwork Sign is a
rectangular sign with the long axis
horizontal (same as Guide Signs),and
black lettering or symbol on a yellow
background (same as Warning Sign).

Right: Traffic Control Sign.

This roadwork sign uses the standard
black on yellow colouring, but in
addition uses coloured Stop and Slow
discs, to emphasise the the actual colours
of the hazard which will be encountered.

Left: Men At Work Sign.

This roadwork sign uses a slightly
different colouring (black on orange
instead of black on yellow) and uses
a symbolic message rather than a
written message.

Right: Footpath Excavation Sign.

This sign emphasises that the dangers
relating to work within the total road
reserve must be conveyed to all road
users (not just motorists).

Left: Barrier Board.

Excavations and other hazards may need
physical separation from road users by
the use of barrier boards, protective
fencing, etc.
