During this period I was part of the International Development Programme (IDP), scheme in Fiji. I lived and worked in Fiji assisting the University of South Pacific with design skills within their Distance Education Department. I was fundamental in persuading the Fijians to incorporate local identities into their study materials to empower their own cultural images, instead of using materials and photos from foreign countries. This also resolved any copyright issues for future publications. During this time, myself and other staff of the University helped create a link between the two universities and consequently promote USQ as a leader in providing high quality distance education materials.
I would like to personally thank Professor Jim Taylor for his support in asking me to assist in the International development Programme in Fiji.
