In her role as Deputy Director of the Australian Centre for Sustainable
Business and Development (ACSBD), Professor Julie Cotter complements the work
of the Director and oversees essential consultation and communication within
the university and with key research funding stakeholders. The ACSBD aims to accelerate
the practice of sustainable business and development by building creative
partnerships, applying expert knowledge, and providing high quality research.
Julie also leads one of the ACSBD’s four research clusters – Sustainable
Governance, Finance and Accounting. Areas covered by this cluster include
corporate sustainability reporting and accounting systems, governance for
sustainable organisations, carbon mitigation and reporting, emissions trading
schemes, multi stakeholder assessment of governance quality.
Research
Professor Cotter’s research interests relate to corporate reporting, standard setting and capital markets. Particular current interests include the disclosure of information about climate change risks and opportunities (carbon disclosure), sustainability reporting (Global Reporting Initiative), organisational governance quality, marginal abatement cost curves and carbon mitigation.
