Well, the report is finished and edited. About to get a shiny, coloured cover and be sent to a file somewhere to hibernate for a while. Ah, the energy and emotion that is captured in that report! Having said that, energy needs to regalvanise for the next festival, and there is no doubt that the reports made by all the working party team leaders contributed mightily to the creation of the Strategic Plan--and thus to getting our tracks mapped out for Festival 2007. There is a new challenge every year, and with the next festival, it will be the tour to Wide Bay after the Toowoomba season concludes. Then the aquittals for QERDP as well as TCC will commence. Note to self: ensure that I get secretarial assistance for that job!
Getting the agenda together for our planning day on July 20 is uppermost in my mind right now. The success of this day hinges upon everyone taking responsibility for getting individual action lists into shape and starting the tick-offs. With clear milestones, each leader should be able to map out a journey for themselves and keep on track.
Read a very useful book last weekend, and have spent the week trialling the process. It’s “How to Get Things Done” by David Allen. Supposedly a guide to stress-free productivity, it certainly does get “stuff” out of your head, in-tray, junk-pile or whatever, and into a manageable system. High or low-tech (digital or paper-based lists and folders), it’s made my week a very productive one. I’ve cleaned out the intrays and the filing cabinet and will start on some other lurking corners of the office this week. Who knows, this could be the beginning of a new way of life! Meantime, make those lists and stay on top of it all.
