We develop curricula and resources that reflect a command of the field
The overall objectives of UNIPREP are
to ensure students demonstrate:

-
an adjustment to, and an
understanding of, the academic cultural context of the Australian
university
-
a capacity to take control of their
own learning by using appropriate learning strategies
-
confidence and ability to think
critically and to analyse an argument
-
competence in accessing and
communicating concepts and ideas in spoken and written form as appropriate to
the higher education context
-
a capacity to establish working
relationships with their lecturers and other students.
Some features of the courses in the UNIPREP program are highlighted below and an
explanation of how this program uses an integrated approach to curricula is
outlined in table 1 (from Galligan,
2004)

at University (SAU)
Some
of the components of the course have been described by ex-UNIPREP students:
Mathematics Communication (MC)/
Applied Communication (AC)
Communication Processes (CP)
English
for Academic Purposes (EAP)
Communication for Academic Purposes (CAP)
In 2001, we released an on-line 50 hour
version of UNIPREP for all international
students and for students to revisit post UNIPREP. This program is used widely
by students and many have indicated they value this type of learning experience.
