The over-riding principle governing ethical behaviour in research
involving human subjects is to protect them, their families and their
communities from harm, now, or in the future. Options 3 and 4 are designed
to help you achieve this aim of protection from harm. Dealing with
sensitive topics is often unavoidable, but should be treated with special
care. For example, participants who are asked questions about topics which
may be painful to them, will usually have to undergo some professional
de-briefing as part of the interview process. |
