The Michigan Prevention Research Centre (MPRC) is dedicated to a program
of prevention research on the problems of employment, economic stress,
and well-being throughout the life course. MPRC seeks to extend scientific

therapy (CBT) model and also Dr. Martin Seligman's (1990) work on Learned

. This course incorporates Dr. Martin Seligman's recommended training sequence
for imparting the necessary skills to bring about the desired changes in
feelings and behaviours. The sequence emphasises learning more constructive
thoughts and statements, and developing an optimistic explanatory styles.
Sample topic areas included: the concept of automatic thoughts, recognising
distorted thinking, and characteristics of optimistic thinking.
