I found study easier. Reading a lot of material can become boring and difficult after working all day. However being spoken to by your slide presentation made things really easy and also gave me a sense of belonging to the course as I was basically in a lecture and not as isolated like you can feel in a correspondence course.
Audio was really good. PowerPoint was helpful too
The PowerPoint’s and extras were very useful when you want an over view of the subject being explained to you. Sometimes reading is not enough to get it into your head and it needs to be spoken, the cd completes that need effectively.

Yes the different ways of learning catered for my specific needs very well and I appreciated the time taken to include all the different learning methods.

Yes it definitely did help because I am a visual person and can remember things a lot better when I see it and hear it
Sometimes I did not use them if I felt that I understood the material, but would use them otherwise to gain better understandings.
The PowerPoint’s with audio were great. They made me feel as though I wasn't missing as much as an external normally would. They still aren't as good as attending lectures, but they are betting than missing out all together.
For some of the modules, a huge benefit!! Other modules no difference. What was helpful, was knowing our lecturers audio was exactly what was covered in the lectures.

I considered them optional extras. I would have found them just as useful if they were on the study desk.

I found the PowerPoint’s particularly helpful, being external students, it is hard to study without actual contact with the lecturer, but by listening to the lecturer on the PowerPoint, it made it seem a bit more real. My learning style reflects the need to listen as well as read to gain the best insight into what I am studying.

They were fantastic. It really helped clarify some things for me - and point out new ideas I hadn't even realised yet.
I think the PowerPoint presentations helped me understand things a lot, because I actually got to hear someone explaining things.

Yes, I especially liked the PowerPoint’s with audio, I found them very easy to access, and interesting, in addition, I find viewing them over and over again, helped with the learning process.

As learning happens in many different ways I believe the visual and auditory representations added an extra dimension to learning, allowing access to learning styles previously hard to obtain by external students.

I personally find it hard to learn straight from the computer. I prefer to have something I can move around such as a book. When writing assignments I do them on paper and then transfer them to the computer. For me it just doesn't look the same on computer. I know I am old fashioned but I like to work in different areas, even the garden.

Power point presentations fundamental to understand the material.
I did think the PP and audio were very effective in introducing the material to be learned, it made me feel I was attending a proper lecture. I thought the PP was well done.

I learn better if I can see the information as well as hear the explanation so yes it helped
Primarily optional extras. I still prefer to read the material in my own time and tended to print off the PDF files that I needed. I also printed the notes view of the PowerPoint slides and only listened to the audio if I felt I was after more detailed explanation.
I used them as my starting point in learned the objectives and then focused on the elements within those presentations as I worked through.

It was my first time using power point with audio visuals and I did find it interesting and useful, informative about the course as we went along.

Yes. Presenting material in a variety of formats and ways facilitates and stimulated my learning.
I think they were more optional extras for me but I can imagine for other learners they would have been quite inspirational

No they helped as it is easier to understand the audio and diagrams then masses of text to read
I found they were of no use to me. Sitting in front of a computer listing to power point is very dry and not conducive to my learning style
These are additions...but they reinforce, in fact they do more than this, but I am not sure how to explain.
The PowerPoint presentations were most beneficial to the learning of the course material. Studying external may not offer all the benefits of on-campus study however the presentations offered variation to the normal learning approach and a summary for each module.

The PowerPoint displays have there purpose and functionality. It was good to see them and they did help.

Actually it would be very helpful if it function fully. I could not access it in my cd at all. So most of the time I am only able to access the text minus the presentation.

In some cases optional extras in other cases were important for the assessments. I must say there is much more on the CD that I didn't listen to through the semester, but it is much better to have ALL of the information you need to do well in the course
As above The CD was well presented and simular to attending a lecture. Yes it all helped me learn.
The audio and animated diagrams were very helpful to bring about the idea or concept.

It is helpful as it is more detailed and easily understood compared to static text or pictures alone.

As most people learn different ways, visual, auditory etc, I believe this CD catered for all. They assist every person no matter how you reattain information

These may seem like optional extras however I believe they enhance the learning process, by using more of the learning faculties that each person has at their disposal; a whole brain approach, including emotion and humour, which is particularly helpful for of campus students.

I felt they were optional extras as I find that time is my biggest challenge and some weeks I didn’t get a change to view them and I still did pretty well in my assignments and my understanding of the course.

I learn more through reading rather than listening and I find it uncomfortable to sit at a computer, so I did not find these effective in my learning

I really liked the alternative representations - the audio overviews were particularly helpful. As a distance student, it is always interesting to listen to someone as opposed to just reading, reading, reading.
Actually, the PowerPoints with words and diagram are enough for me. If there is the specific purpose, the PowerPoint with audios would be better.

Audio was good. Being an on-campus student usually, it makes it feel like you are at a real lecture.
I did find the variety of visuals and audio helped with the delivery of the course material.
It has handy to have the powerpoints so you can access them at any time, not just on the net.
PPT with audio was a huge advantage in learning the material. As an external student it was great to be able to have a 'lecture' at home to reinforce what I'd been reading in the text.
Yes, these were very good. It made the whole study experience more real and almost like attending class.
I find that it is easier to learn when I hear what is said and can follow and highlight what I need to know.
They were a great option, especially the introductions, as they gave a solid overview and framework in my mind for what I was going to be going into in more depth.
I found the audio excellent. Sometimes it is great to be able to listen to someone, it helps the information to sink in. I replayed the audio when I was ironing to reinforce what I was learning.

The audio-visuals helped to give the course the 'personal' touch and I found that it helped to reinforce the learning of the materials very well.

I like the Powerpoint presentation as it gave you an overview of each Module. Once you read the print it was easy to follow.

Paramount to success with this style of learning for me. I used the power point presentations as a starting point for each module.

Honestly, I generally don't use the general course materials for any of my courses, that is I complete the required reading, course assignment and exam preparations. I have not failed because of this approach to date, but when I briefly reviewed the additional presentations on CD I was attracted to their inclusion, as an external student its more like actually attending a lecture I guess.

Definitely not optional extras!! The PowerPoints with audio were THE best feature of the cd based approach. As an external student I felt I had participated in a lecture that other students had also. These pp/audio presentations are invaluable for distance students. I have had other courses with PP only (no audio) and really that is useless. I may as well just read a book.
I found these to be useful accompaniments. Distance study requires discipline & motivation. Being a person who does not find it easy to sit in front of a computer or read books for hours, I found the powerpoints with audio helped to break up the learning process and reinforced material in the recommended readings.

I feel that the alternative representations were optional extras, though they helped a lot in making studying more fun than just reading books.
They were helpful to learn with as could refer to them at anytime and pause and print material off compared to lectures when only get to see the lecture once.
