Australian Painting Gallery

Ralph painted a variety of scenes depicting different sites of historical and personal interest.  His interests extended to the rural and seascapes, buildings and sites of historical interest.

Ralph's paintings have been displayed in the Toowoomba City Hall, the Toowoomba Hospital Chapel, the 25th Battalion Officers Mess Hall, but sadly some of these works have gone missing and only black and white copies could be shown here.

Australian Historical
As a founding member, president and secretary of the Toowoomba Art Society, Ralph detailed in written and in pictorial diaries the information regarding the Darling Downs during the 1930's. He was a "plain air" enthusiast and accompanied the late Herbert Carstens on many painting excursions.
	Prince Henry Drive This large oil paining pictures the road prior to the 1950's when it was sealed with bitumen. It provides a valuable historical record of the Toowoomba Range area. (This painting has gone missing from the Toowoomba City Hall Gallery, if you have seen it please contact us using the "Questions and Comments" email link below to assist in its recovery)
	Bulls Head Inn This is the historical Bulls Head Inn located in Dray ton, near Toowoomba, Queensland.  Ralph experimented with images of pioneers in the paintings and did not sign the work.
	First Toowoomba Home This is reputedly a painting of the first home in Toowoomba.
	Toowoomba Post Office This is an oil of the Toowoomba Post Office painted in 1930's

Seascapes depict many coastal areas as they were in the 1940 to 1960 time period of the east coast of Queensland, Australia.

Australian Portraits and Stills
Portraits were done done of a wide range of people from family and friends to officials and members of the community. Some abstracts are also included here.
	Self Portrait This is not a good reproduction as the painting was painted with high gloss house paint and needs to be re-taken without a flash.
