Role
Professor Candy joined USQ as Deputy Vice-Chancellor in April 2009. Professor Candy is responsible for the leadership, coordination and effective operation of the Learning and Teaching portfolio, the Student Management Division, and the Division of Academic Information Services (comprising the Distance and e-Learning Centre and the University Library).
Background
From 2003 to 2009, Professor Candy held various senior appointments with the NHS in England, latterly as the National Director of Education, Training and Development, NHS Connecting for Health. During 2001-2002, Professor Candy was a National Research Fellow with the Australian Department of Education, Science and Training, undertaking studies in the area of self-directed online learning in adulthood. From 1997-2001, Professor Candy held the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Scholarship) at the University of Ballarat and prior to this, Professor Candy was Director of the Academic Staff Development Unit at QUT. His areas of research interest include lifelong and self-directed learning, adult and continuing education, information literacy, distance education and e-learning.
Personal details
Professor Candy's interests include history, reading and travel. He is married with three adult children.
