In 2015 the AAIR-SIG conference will be held at the Kingfisher Bay Resort on Fraser Island, Queensland. Fraser Island is located about 4.5 hours north of Brisbane and a short barge ride across to the island.

Getting there
Barge Trip - Secure Parking on the Mainland
Secure car park facilities are adjacent to River Heads Mainland Reception and open from 8:00am - 6:30pm. Upon check-in at reception, guests will be issued with a secure pin number to gain access to the parking facilities. Bookings are highly recommended - contact the Reservations Team on + 61 7 4194 9300 or 1800 072 555 (within Australia).
Please note: GPS users - River Heads Road becomes Ariadne St just before the Shopping Village.

It is important you check ferry times carefully before booking your flights. This is to allow enough time to meet your connection. It takes 50 minutes to cross the Great Sandy Strait and a 15 minute drive from River Heads to the airport. If you decide to utilise Kingfisher Bay Resort portering service, please allow extra time to collect your bags.

Please note:
1 The 21.30 ex. River Heads and the 23.00 ex. Kingfisher are not currently operating. Services will resume during peak periods.
2 Please check ferry times carefully before booking airfares to allow enough travel time. Travel time across the Great Sandy Strait is 50 minutes and it is approximately 15 minutes from River Heads to the airport. Please allow extra time to identify and collect your bags if using the Ferry portering service.
Transfers
QantasLink has daily flights from Brisbane to Hervey Bay Airport and Virgin Australia flies daily to Hervey Bay Airport from Sydney.
For your convenience, Kingfisher Bay Resort can pre-book your airport transfers. When you arrive, please wait at the Arrivals Hall and a limousine will transfer you to our Mainland Reception. From here you can check in and take the shuttle to the ferry service.
Kingfisher Bay Resort also offers assistants with booking transfers from Brisbane airport or Roma Street Transit Centre. Your transfer will transport you to Hervey Bay’s Tourist Centre to meet your shuttle/ferry connection to Fraser Island.
