USQ provides a number of avenues for employers to engage and connect with students.
Working with employers
Date: 15 – 17 November, 2022
Location: Online
USQ students are invited to participate in this event to help realise their career goals over a three-day, online career conference. The USQ Careers and Employability team and our industry guests will be providing knowledge, tips and practical advice for succeeding at work and preparing for a successful career.
We hope to have employer representatives engaged with as many initiatives over the week as possible. You will have the chance to profile your organisation to our students through participating as an employer guest during the Q&A Panels or connect and engage with them through the chat or evening webinar sessions.
If you are interested in being involved contact USQ Careers & Employability.

Dates: 4 - 6 April 2022
Location: Online
USQ are currently taking expressions of interest for USQ’s Online Career Fair 2022. This online career fair enables employers to reach not only our on-campus students but the 70% of USQ’s student cohort who study online and are located across Australia and the world.
Our focus this year is on areas within: Accounting & Finance, Agriculture & Environment, Business & Management, Education, Engineering, ICT, Law, Marketing & Communication, Nursing & Allied Health, Psychology & Human Services, and Surveying & Built Environment.
Your Virtual Booth:
If you become part of the Online Career Fair, you will be added to a Virtual Booth which will include your company information, resources (flyers, videos, brochures), job postings and branding.
You will have the option to create two short videos with support from USQ:
- An introductory video. This is a short 10-minute video where we’d like you to introduce your company, opportunities available, and any other key information you’d like to share with USQ students (e.g., your recruitment process, or what you like to see from students when applying).
- A promotional video. This is a short 1-minute video where we’d like you to tell students that you’ll be attending the USQ Career Fair, the study areas of particular interest to your company, and anything else you think will draw students in. This will be shared with students in the lead up to the event.
Live Chat:
There will be a 'live chat' session with students through text or video chat. We would require a representative from your company to be available for this session, it will be for a maximum of 3.5 hours on the 6th April. Being completely online means you can go about your work between messages.
Other Activities:
Additional events and activities are also being arranged for the Career Fair days to keep the students engaged.
Express your interest:
Expressions of interest close 17 February, submit your interest here: https://accesshub.usq.edu.au/Form.aspx?id=1253812

USQ’s industry experience programs provide many benefits to both students and organisations alike. Our USQ Careers & Employability team manage the formalities of student placement within your organisation and USQ’s contract of insurance indemnifies the student and the Industry Experience provider against liability for personal injury or property damage suffered by the student, the Industry Experience provider or another person arising out of the work experience.
The Industry Experience Program
The Industry Experience Program assists students to develop employability skills and an understanding of the expectations within the role they are studying towards. This practical learning-based program allows an organisation to host a student for unpaid industry experience for up to 30 days over a designated period of time. It’s a great way to support emerging professionals and find like-minded, motivated and driven students.
Work Integrated Learning Program
Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is a compulsory component of a student’s course in selected disciplines. It provides a wide range of learning experiences undertaken by students to better prepare them for future employment. The work placement component allows students to work with a dedicated professional who can coach, mentor and supervise this important aspect of the student learning journey.
