2018 Alumni Service Award

Hoa Cruickshank is passionate about learning and teaching.

Completing her Master of Education and Master of Learning and Development, Hoa's research at USQ was centred around using technology, specifically iPads, to improve reading skills for young learners.

Three years ago Hoa established an English Language School which uses the application of an iPad with IQ Board software in Second Language Learning and Teaching.

“This learning approach seems to be new in Vietnam so it has attracted many parents who want their children to try it out,” she said.

Today the school has more than 120 students.

Hoa is currently the Managing Director of Vung Tau E-School, a private language centre in Vung Tau, Vietnam and Managing Director of Phuc Gia Trading and Tourism Limited Company.

Hoa was one of the founding members of USQ’s Vietnam Alumni Chapter where she remains as Treasurer.

She is also an ambassador for the University, contributing to the enrolment of Vietnamese students with USQ by promoting it among her networks.

"I have studied with many, many institutions … USQ is the best one I have ever chosen to study with. The lecture staff are very friendly and helpful … they help you any time you want."
