We are passionate about instilling in our alumni the ability and resources to make a difference where they are located and through global programs. As a USQ alumnus, there are several ways to give back and play a part in ensuring future students are given opportunities to succeed in higher education.
USQ’s mentoring program is a great way to share your knowledge and experiences with a USQ current student. Accessible from anywhere in the world, our mentoring program helps students prepare for their transition from university to employment.
Wherever possible, students are matched with a mentor who works in a similar field of study, with similar interests, and in a similar location. Depending upon the level of student interest, sometimes we are not able to match all registered mentors with a student; however, all efforts are made to do so.
We encourage our alumni to support local and community programs and help them to develop new skills at the same time. You can volunteer time, expertise or fundraising support for local community groups. This will not only showcase your chapter’s interest in supporting local endeavours, but also increase your personal profile in the community.
Other ways to contribute
Time, connections and other support can have a longer lasting impact than any financial contribution. You may wish to consider:
- Offering your services to offset some of the administration costs for charities such as accounting or support from business owners for equipment/services.
- Connecting people of influence with the charity, who in turn could introduce their friends and connections.
- Offering internships and work experience to engage with USQ students.
- Inspiring students with your achievements at Open Days and other USQ events.
If your Chapter is involved in community activities, email photos and/or stories to USQ alumni for consideration in the Phoenix Rising eNewsletter.
