Faculty of Business and Law CoP

Faculty of Business Community of Practice
Members of the Faculty of Business and Law CoP with the Dean, Prof Allan Layton

The Faculty of Business and Law Community of Practice (CoP) began in 2006. The CoP members are the leaders of first year core courses within the Faculty degree programs at USQ.

What is the focus?

The Faculty CoP focuses on common challenges facing these academics in their teaching practice. Faculty of Business and Law academics teach large cohorts of students that include on-campus, external and international partner institutions. This presents particular challenges for teaching, assessment, enhancing student learning and ensuring a quality student learning journey.

Therefore since 2006, the Faculty CoP has been working on a shared agenda of issues including:

  • assessment
  • the challenge of large first year courses
  • time-related challenges for staff
  • cohort specific issues and diversity issues
  • student related issues
  • member professional development.

What is the role?

The Faculty of Business and Law CoP performs a valuable role by:

  • supporting academics
  • providing resources
  • professional development to meet shared goals in the members' teaching practice.
