Pre-requisite: ENG3311 and students must be enrolled in the BENS engineering practice sub-plan pathway.

Other requisites

For a Bachelor or Engineering Science (BENS) student to continue this course in the engineering practice program pathway requires advice from the ENG3300 Industry Experience Evaluation Portfolio assessement.

Rationale

The ENG3300 Self-assessment Workplace Portfolio, ENG3311 Technologist Work-Integrated Learning Project A and ENG3312 Technologist Work-Integrated Learning Project B are a series of three linked engineering practice pathway courses within the Bachelor of Engineering Science program. They enable students to use their work experiences to demonstrate that they have attained the objectives of up to four nominated Bachelor of Engineering Science Courses. Credit for the nominated courses are granted upon successful completion of ENG3311 and/or ENG3312.

Synopsis

An outcome of ENG3300 Self-Assessment Workplace Portfolio is the nomination of up to four Bachelor of Engineering Science courses for which credit is sought based on prior work experience. Credit for up to two of those courses is granted on successful completion of this course which includes a work-integrated learning (WIL) report. It is required that the report is planned and produced so that it demonstrates achievement of all the learning objectives of those nominated courses. Credit for any other courses nominated in ENG3300 is granted on successful completion of ENG3300, ENG3311 and/or ENG3312.

Objectives

On successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  1. Plan a major technical engineering task and execute the task to completion;
  2. Apply intellectual rigour in the planning of a work-integrated learning report specifically designed to demonstrate attainment of learning outcomes of nominated courses;
  3. Prepare a work-integrated learning report written in a clear, logical, concise and accurate professional style using standard referencing and citation convention;
  4. Construct and compile a work-integrated learning report within a designated timeframe.
  5. Categorise and articulate the contribution of this course to their Professional e-Portfolio.

    To complete assessment items satisfactorily, students must obtain at least 50% of the marks available for each assignment.

  4. Requirements for student to be awarded a passing grade in the course:
    To be assured of receiving a passing grade in a course a student must obtain at least 50% of the total weighted marks for the course

    The final grades for students will be assigned on the basis of the aggregate of the weighted marks obtained for each of the summative items for the course.

  6. Examination information:
