Synopsis

This professional development course PDC 5311 covers the personal financial planning environment. It is a companion to PDC 5312 - The Components of Personal Financial Planning and PDC 5313 - The Personal Financial Planning Process. Taken together, these three PDC's with summative assessments will be equivalent to the postgraduate course FIN5412 - Financial Planning. This PDC provides an overview of personal financial planning, explores the macroeconomic and regulatory environment within which financial planners operate and reviews some foundational concepts that are essential in personal financial planning (e.g. financial reports, time value of money, investment risk and returns and taxation).
