Synopsis

This course supports pre-service teachers to build in-depth understanding for the senior curriculum and organisational requirements in order to apply these effectively in their teaching practice. Discussions and applications cover mandated elements of curriculum for certification and practice designing units of work that create alignment of curriculum, assessment and pedagogy. This course aims to give secondary educators increased understanding and confidence to deal with issues for senior schooling, strategies for teaching in their chosen disciplines, and to be able to modify curriculum for explicit teaching in different sectors. They will be asked to demonstrate an understanding of current curriculum policy in the senior phase and the implications for practice.
