Synopsis

The aim of this course is to expand the student's knowledge of the changes that occur with normal ageing, the pathophysiology of ageing and preventative and therapeutic measures to promote healthy ageing. The significance and processes associated with physical and mental assessment of the older adult person and strategies to maintain health status will be examined. This course will also explore the spiritual and psychosocial aspects of ageing and therapeutic approaches that may assist individuals to provide a higher level of care.
