Synopsis

This course covers the intersection of cultural and critical theory from its Kantian and Marxist origins, through Frankfurt and Birmingham school developments to the present day, with emphasis placed on contemporary debates and practical applications. Topics studied include the relation between culture, society and the creative arts, in industrial and post-industrial societies, modern and post-modern contexts.
