Other requisites

Writers enrolling in this course must have a significant portion of a major work, such as a script, novel, memoir, collection of short fiction or poetry, or similar already in development. Prospective students are encouraged to contact the course examiner prior to enrolling in the course to ensure that their major work is suitably well-developed.

Being a professional writer involves more than just writing; it also means engaging effectively with funding, publishing and production industries and bodies. In this course, you will be supported through the process of developing a major work for submission to at least two different markets.
During the course, you will be supported in identifying opportunities for further development, publication and/or production of your major work, and in developing submissions to funding bodies, publishers, agents and/or production companies. You will also act as a peer mentor for other writers in the course as they seek out similar opportunities and develop their own submissions and applications.
The focus in this course is on adapting and describing your work for submission to various markets, interpreting and responding to submission guidelines and selection criteria, and developing supporting documentation for applications and submissions.
