This course is an introduction to electronic publishing. The course is an exploratory and reflective study of possible futures for the publishing industry. The course considers the historical forces - `technological, economic and social' that have influenced publishing, culminating in the `digital revolution'. The course outlines the stages and processes involvedin digital book production. It also examines the nature of the newer technologies and reflects on what they might mean for the publishing industry now and into the future, especially in terms of the possibilities and opportunities they might offer.
