Students must have successfully completed the entire previous year’s Professional Experience courses in order to enrol in this course. Students must be available for a prescribed period of time to undertake a placement in a school or other approved site as required in this course.

Synopsis

In the standard enrolment pattern this is the third "professional experience" course in the Bachelor of Education (Primary) specialisation. The course provides for students to have experience in theory and practice of pedagogy and curriculum across all areas of the P-7 curriculum, but has a particular focus on Mathematics/Numeracy. The course has three main strands: Teaching and Learning; Relationships; and Reflective Practice. In the Teaching and Learning strand, the focus is on planning and evaluating learning experiences; in the Relationships strand, the focus is on planning for the establishment of secure learning environments that value learning; and in the Reflective Practice strand, the focus is on using evaluation of student learning to inform ongoing planning for teaching and learning. The course provides for a 15-day professional experience placement. NOTE: Minimum enrolment numbers apply to this offering. Should enrolments not reach the minimum number required for on-campus study, students may be transferred to the ONLINE offering and advised of this change before semester commences.
