Synopsis

With guidance from a supervisor, learners will plan and execute an independent conceptual study clearly related to their major. This course caters for students entering from different streams. The course delineates the applied research stream more clearly and aligns with the Master of Education approach where the research project courses and advanced research project courses are split given the different focus. This study will be tailored for the Applied Research pathway with clear evidence of application of the knowledge developed in the student's Masters program. The study will culminate in a substantial conceptual paper completed to a scholarly standard suitable for publication in an approved academic or professional journal. The paper will reflect mastery of the discipline content and of current literature, and will demonstrate knowledge and skills acquired through the student's program. This course will operate on the basis of frequent individual consultation and feedback between the student and the staff member nominated as the study supervisor.
