The Advanced Respiratory Management course prepares the student to take an active role in the maintenance and/or restoration of pulmonary homeostasis. The curriculum includes intensive course work in respiratory sciences as they relate to the minimisation of disease progression, and general respiratory knowledge to enhance clinical reasoning capacity, but most importantly for the provision of client education. Students will then apply this new knowledge in their own clinical context. Although hospitals employ the majority of respiratory nurse specialists, other employers may include home care providers, medical clinics, nursing homes, general practitioners, and rural and remote communities.
