Synopsis

This course builds on the research knowledge and skills introduced in HSC8050 Research Methods in the Human Sciences. It develops the student's ability to make use of qualitative research strategies contributing to the foundational knowledge of research literacy for professionals working in the areas of health and human services.

In this course students will critically examine the contribution of qualitative research to health and human service practice; the theoretical underpinnings of qualitative research, and develop skills and application of the purposes, designs and processes of qualitative research. Student will critically evaluate the comparison with and co-contribution to empirical research methods.
