Synopsis

This course develops knowledge and skills required to plan and implement exercise programs for an apparently healthy population and for individuals within selected special populations (such as those with chronic illness and/or disability and for the aged). Exercise prescription principles will be outlined and evidence based training methods to improve health and performance related to components of physical fitness and wellbeing (physical function and capacity) will be explored. Exercise programs will be outlined and the opportunity provided to develop practical skills in leading and supervising activities in a range of exercise environments. Research information relevant to latest developments and trends will be investigated. Risk assessment and safety aspects will be outlined.
