Helping others during significant moments in their lives can be highly effective, rewarding and important. However, the professional must constantly engage and separate successfully and repeatedly with both individual clients and groups. This means that constant renewal of `the self' and an ongoing focus on the balance between others and self is required. This course will introduce the idea of a resilient professional by discussing and analysing burnout prevention, self-care and self-reflection strategies for professionals. The intended learning outcomes will be for students to acknowledge the potential stresses that they are likely to encounter and strategies to reduce burnout and improve self-care practice. Furthermore, this course will highlight strategies to interact with individuals from different cultural backgrounds and other professionals to improve communication, self-reflection and outcomes.
This course contains a recommended residential school for external students and recommended on-campus workshops for on-campus students.
