This course provides a survey of some of the most significant currents of ideas that have shaped contemporary global society. Each week, the course introduces a broad theme or concept, charting its history over time, identifying key academic theories pertinent to it, and demonstrating how they are applied in various disciplinary contexts. Specifically, it looks at the evolution of political thought, social and cultural categories, and the philosophical and artistic movements that continue to shape Western society today.
