Synopsis
An understanding of the social and cultural determinants of health and the impacts of historical and contemporary practice and their influence on the social and emotional wellbeing of First Nations Australians is essential in providing cultural safe health care with these populations. This Course utilises cultural safety as the model to contemporary health care delivery in Australia. It emphasises the contemporary nurse as a foundational member of the health partnership and who is necessary in enhancing First Nations peoples social and emotional wellbeing. It values the role of First Nations Australians in self-determining processes and leadership in health and research.
