Pre-service teacher placement process

Inline with Queensland Government and Department of Education, USQ will require students to have full vaccination against COVID-19 from 23 January 2022 for all pre-service teachers working or delivering a service at a school or early childhood education and care setting (this includes state, private and catholic sites).

Prior to your placement being sourced and confirmed you will be required to upload a COVID student declaration and COVID vaccination certificate to InPlace.

The placement process will vary according to where you are located and which course you are studying as outlined in the Professional Experience Book located on the Placement Requirements and Reports tab.

Students are not permitted to approach schools or centres in Queensland to negotiate placements as outlined in the Partnership Agreements included in the Professional experience reporting framework.

From 2021, placement communication will be distributed to students through a bulk communication process. Please refer to the Student Placement Communication Flow Chart (PDF 325KB) for further information.

For the purposes of an education placement a day is defined as 8 hours, e.g. being on site from 8am to 4pm. Any absences must be made up as a course requirement to complete the placement and ensure eligibility for QCT registration. While we endeavour to place students close to home; at times a lack of availability at sites means travel of up to 50 km to and from a placement may be required.
