Our goal is to help you succeed on your terms. We reach out to you during different stages of your studies to provide practical advice and support:

  • Connecting you with relevant resources and services
  • Guiding you through the learning environment, processes, and systems
  • Answering any questions you might have
  • Helping you build a  support network
  • Navigating university processes such as Academic Integrity and Academic Progression

Why is a Student Success Advisor contacting me?

The Student Success Advising Team reaches out to new students through phone and email to welcome you to UniSQ. We use the Get Ready to Study Survey to provide customised assistance specifically tailored to boost your confidence and academic skills, link you to support services and resources, and align with your expectations about university study.

Don’t want to wait for us to contact you? Take the Get Ready to Study Survey online and we will provide you with a personalised plan to get you off to a great start! It’s confidential, tailored to you, and will take you less than 10 minutes to complete.

You might also meet us when we present on the Seven Predictors of Success at University during Orientation. These are based on research undertaken here in Australia with Uni students just like you. These seven straightforward strategies can help you maximise your success at UniSQ.

Missing orientation or starting your studies after the official study period begins can feel overwhelming. We'll contact you before the last date to withdraw from a course without academic or financial penalty (Census Date) to help you get organised and remain on the right path.

We've gathered insights from both UniSQ staff and students just like you, resulting in Five Tips to Get on Track with your studies. We’ll guide you through these and link you up with the study support you need to be successful.

If you haven’t used StudyDesk (UniSQ’s Learning Management System) or have only partially accessed it, we’ll get in touch with you before the last date to withdraw from a course without academic or financial penalty (Census Date).

We’ll help you navigate the learning platform, support your interaction with course materials, content, and classes, and link you up with Student Support services and resources so that you can get back on track.

If you're a current UniSQ student who hasn't enrolled in an upcoming study period, we'll reach out to offer assistance. We can link you to program, enrolment pattern, professional placement, careers, leadership development, and Student Support services and resources to help you progress with your program.

Academic Integrity is an important skill for your studies. The SSA Team reaches out to students who receive an allegation of Academic Misconduct.  We’re here to link you up with the right administrative, academic skills, and student support services based on your situation.

You don’t have to wait for us to call! If you’ve recently received a Notice of Allegation of Academic Misconduct, make an in person, online, or phone appointment to see us.

You may face challenges throughout your program, but by monitoring your academic progress, we hope to support you through these and assist you to get back on track. Your circumstances can change, or studies can vary due to a range of factors, such as personal challenges, family or health issues, financial pressures or finding a course particularly challenging.

The Student Success Advising Team contacts students who haven’t had a successful study period after results release. We aim to assist you to reflect on what’s been challenging about your learning and to boost your confidence in both academic skills and wellbeing.

Student Success Advisors can assist you with developing a strengths based Academic Improvement Plan. We will help you to:

  • Reflect on your studies and identify any challenges that have impacted on your studies,
  • Navigate the learning environment, policies, processes, and systems,
  • Explore, identify, and connect you to support options specific to your individual needs,
  • Set personalised goals and actions to get you back on track.

If you’ve recently received an Academic Progression Notification, you can make an in person, online, or phone appointment with an Advisor.

Sometimes, a staff member at UniSQ might suggest connecting with a Student Success Advisor. This could happen if one of your Teaching Team has concerns about your academic progress or your well-being in relation to your studies. We'll get in touch with you to offer personalised support and advice that suits your unique situation.

If you're a UniSQ staff member looking to refer a student, click here to find out how to Refer a Student to a Student Success Advisor.

Throughout each study period, you'll get a set of messages delivering timely information, advice, and links to learning and wellbeing support services and resources. These aim to assist you in engaging with your studies and the support available to help you get involved and stay connected with the university.
