Historic Toowoomba, Pubs and Laneways Tour

Tuesday, 9 July, 2019 | 5.45pm – 7.30pm | Cost: $10

Organised by Emeritus Professor Maurice French and Andrew Mason, this tour begins with a visit and history of the Darling Downs Masonic Temple, then meanders through the historic parts of Toowoomba’s inner-city, including pubs and laneways, ending with a visit to the iconic Harris House, owned by National Trust Queensland, before parting for dinner.

Heritage-listed Empire Theatres Tour 

Organised by the Empire Theatres, one of the conference venues, this tour encompasses the building's history, dating back to 1877 prior to the offical opening in 1933, and includes a light lunch.

Darling Downs Indigenous Heritage and Depression Camp Tour

Friday, 12 July, 2019 | 9.00am – 3.00pm approx. | Cost: $40 (lunch at own cost)

This tour begins with a Traditional Owner's guide through the Gummingurru ceremonial site of the Jarowair Aboriginal people in Meringandan, where young men were initiated and different tribal groups met each year on their way to the Bunya Nut Festival. We stop for lunch at Fire & Ice before visiting the Eagle's Nest Camp, which was established as a permanent village in the 1930s after Dr Thomas Price came across the appalling conditions of swagmen on the Great Dividing Range.

Local Vineyards Tour

Friday, 12 July, 2019 | 11.00am – 3.30pm  approx.| Cost: $118 (minimum of 10 people)

This tour starts with wine tasting at Holland Wines and a guided tour of the winery grounds. We then move onto Bunnyconnellen Olive Grove and Vineyard, trying their in-house marinated olives and local wines. This includes wandering the gardens and visiting the on-site gift and homewares shop, followed by lunch with a menu range from relaxed, informal BBQs, to share plate grazing.
