Students inspired to reach the summit in leadership

The youngest Australian to summit Mount Everest Alyssa Azar will be one of the speakers at USQ's Student Leadership Conference.

People who have reached goals in the face of adversity will headline USQ’s Student Leadership Conference tomorrow night (March 21).

The conference will provide a unique opportunity for students to hear from inspirational leaders, network with fellow students and develop leadership skills.

The event, organised by USQ Phoenix Central, is themed Reaching Your Summit and will showcase speakers who have overcome significant challenges, including: adventurer Alyssa Azar; Brisbane Bullets General Manager Richard Clarke and Coach Andrej Lemanis; and USQ Law Student and Paralympian Samuel Carter.

The keynote speakers:

• Alyssa Azar, the youngest Australian to summit Mount Everest. Alyssa will be telling her incredible story of surviving avalanches and earthquakes to achieve her goal in May 2016.

• Andrej Lemanis, Head Coach of the Brisbane Bullets and Australian Men's basketball team, and Richard Clarke, General Manager of the Brisbane Bullets. Andrej and Richard have been an integral part of the Brisbane Bullets relaunch and will speak about their experience bringing basketball back to Brisbane.

• Samuel Carter, a current student at USQ, will share his experiences competing against the world's toughest athletes while representing Australia atthe 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
