As part of USQ’s Resilient Regions Week, the Regional Health Forum and Public Lecture will be presented by world leading researchers and local health experts. Held in partnership with Cancer Council Queensland, the focus of the two events is on how to best achieve better health and lifestyles in regional communities, reducing the causes, incidence and impacts of major chronic diseases.

University researchers, health and allied health professionals, health and hospital boards, community service providers, government officers and public policy advocacy groups will be in attendance.

The Regional Health Forum will table ideas, insights and experience and formulate strategies for closing the health and wellbeing gap between urban and regional areas.

The Public Lecture ‘Overcoming health disparities to achieve better health, better living’ will feature presentations by leading international researchers and clinicians, Professor Heather Bryant and Professor Anil D’Cruz.

Professor Bryant will bring her knowledge and expertise as a clinical professor at the Department of Community Health Sciences and Oncology at the University of Calgary, Canada, and will share valuable knowledge regarding the implementation of cancer care models and health systems within countries experiencing geographic variations in care and outcomes.

Professor D’Cruz is internationally recognised for his work in late presentation cancer and high risk and underprivileged populations, as well as an expert in management of neck metastasis, laser surgery, and quality of life for cancer patients. He is Chief of the Department of Head and Neck Surgery at the renowned Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, India.
