Framed Fridays - Smart's The Waiting Bus

Widely considered one of Australia's greatest artists, Jeffrey Smart trained at the South Australian School of Arts and Crafts between 1937 and 1941, and later at the Académie Montmartre with Fernand Léger in Paris in 1949.

Smart has several awards to his name, most notably the Commonwealth Jubilee Prize in 1951. Throughout his career, he exhibited around the world: with shows at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, and the Whitechapel and the Tate Modern in London. His works are also in many public and private collections, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection in Switzerland, the Yale University Art Gallery in Connecticut, and the National Gallery of Australia.
