No seriously: This week we celebrated three international days – and the best bit? Our University’s research covered all three.

Monday

Non-school leaver university students: You’re kind of a big deal.

• Head of School and Dean (Education) Professor Jo-Anne Ferreira was quoted by ABC News on the importance of non-school leaver university students.

Stay-at-home mum turned ICU ward nurse, Sami showed us how it’s done.

• Weekend readers of The Chronicle would have seen an article about valedictorian Sami Groom. And if you didn’t, here it is again.

Tuesday

“I’m feeling very Olympic today.”

• We were living our Cool Runnings dreams when Dean (Graduate Research School) and Sport Psychologist Professor Peter Terry was interviewed on ABC Southern Queensland about the Winter Olympics and athletes performance and mental health (Oh! And his time with the British Bobleighing team).

Turns out you need a dark sky when trying to find stars.

• No seriously, our Space team spoke to Wired about the effects of satellite swarms.

Wednesday

Sorry, we don’t our regular mid-week space fix for you. Hopefully a mid-week digital space fix will suffice.

• Associate Professor Andrew Maxwell shared tips on staying safe online to mark Safer Internet Day (and the video is sure to give you goosebumps!).

Thursday

Wondering what’s on the horizon?

Vice-Chancellor Professor Geraldine Mackenzie spoke to ABC Southern Queensland about the return of international students and the (exciting) year ahead.

Nothing like being given the opportunity to solve the nation’s complex security problems.

• Find out how our students will tackle said issues via Ipswich Tribune.

Friday

It’s getting hot in here, apparently.

• Dr Christa Pudmenzky was featured in Quest Newspapers talking about why it might be time that we reimagine the Aussie summer.

In the feels.

• A beautiful story on graduate Bomkey Volonte Mbaiornom and his work in the community that is making a real difference via 7News Toowoomba.
