9.00 AM - 12.00 PM
The research question is: Is the partnership or the incorporated legal practice the preferable ownership and governance structure through which private expertise intensive legal services are delivered in Australia?
The research question will be informed by inquiring into the social purpose for which the law firm partnership exists in Australia from the perspective of partners, clients and society. Is the purpose any different for incorporated legal practices?
As the legal profession continues to undergo disruption, including from technological innovation, the partnership remains the pervasive organisational form by which private expertise intensive legal services are provided in Australia and comparable common law countries. Will this remain the case? Are there factors at play or some features of the incorporated legal practice which could see this change?
