Development and Application of a Threshold / Expanded Competencies Curriculum Model With Aligned Assessment in Online Tertiary Statistical Education
23 NOV 2021
1.30 PM - 3.00 PM

A large innovative course redesign, using backwards course design, is currently underway in a predominantly online introductory tertiary statistics service course. The main motivation behind the course restructure was focusing on developing a structure that allows both educators and students to be confident in knowing what components of the course students know when they achieve a passing grade. Currently it is likely that different students gain a passing grade based on different aspects of the course content. The overall aim of this project is the development of a threshold/expanded competencies curriculum framework with a focus on assessment for learning using threshold competencies, continuous assessment, and mastery learning to improve engagement, progression, confidence, and success in students' educational experience.
