Film and media classification systems provide audiences with information that assists them in making an informed choice based on the appropriateness of the content of the media products for the intended audiences. The current Australian classification system for literary publications (books etc.) does not provide such information. This PhD research project, How would the Australian book industry benefit from a model for a classification of literary publications? Developing a classification model for publishers, authors, and readers, aims to respond to the inadequacies of the current classification system by providing a comprehensive classification model for literary texts.
