HDR supervisors

To deliver successful learning outcomes, USQ seeks to ensure high quality supervision for all its HDR students.
Supervisor responsibilities and accreditation

Supervisors are required to gain accreditation by completing mandatory supervisor training courses including the available online training

On completion of the required elements, employees can seek accreditation which will be provided at the Doctoral and/or Masters level and in relation to the HDR Principal Supervisor or Associated Supervisor role.

The Research Supervision Toolkit (PDF 2.1MB) offers resources to supervisors to assist them in addressing questions relating to a variety of topics:

  • selecting for success
  • setting expectations
  • achieving confirmation
  • doing the research
  • finalising the thesis
  • managing progress
  • managing the relationship
  • supervisor development
  • early exit strategies
  • completion and career

Support for this project has been provided by the Australian Government Office for Learning and Teaching.
