The Office of Corporate Communication and Public Relations is responsible for the whole-of-university internal and external communication and advocacy on high-level issues with the staff, media, and stakeholders across government, industry and the community. The Director provides executive advice to the senior management of USQ, including the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor. A planned and structured approach to communication, based on identifying the right ends (outcomes) and the means by which those ends will be reached (plans and tactics) is linked to the University Business Plan. The Office understands what the real issues are and makes the business communication link clear.
Like legal and financial advice, the sooner you seek guidance concerning corporate communications, the better the outcome is likely to be. We urge staff to consult us at the inception of any major project or initiative. If you are embarking on a change program, a major project or other important activity, the Public Relations team can work with you to develop strategies that result in proactive, effective and timely communications to inform, educate and gain support from your stakeholders. If the media has called you about a matter that could affect the University's reputation, call us immediately – we will manage the issue in consultation with you. If you want to engage your stakeholders productively, we can facilitate the program and provide the framework, tools and skills for you to identify, analyse, engage and monitor your stakeholder communities.
