John Ross Clancy Indigenous Student Bursary

In 2024, UniSQ will offer one John Ross Clancy Indigenous Student Bursary to support an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander student continuing their studies in a bachelor's degree program.

The late John Ross Clancy was an advocate for Australian Indigenous affairs, and generously bequeathed funds to UniSQ to advance Australian Indigenous higher education. While John Ross Clancy had many achievements, both he and his wife, Lydia, were active in initiating the Black Women's Action group in the 1970s.

The bursary will have a maximum value of $1000 to be paid in one instalment.

Applicants must:

be a domestic student currently residing in Australia
be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person of Australia
be continuing their studies at UniSQ in a bachelor's degree program in Study Period 1 2024 (e.g., Trimester 1 2024)
have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 4.0 as at the release of results for Semester 2 2023.

Applicants must:

address each personal statement question below (250 words maximum per question):
- your reflections on your studies at UniSQ to date and how you will make the most of your remaining studies
- how you see yourself as a future professional within your field.
provide evidence you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person of Australia.
provide evidence of your current financial circumstances.

*Applicants will also be assessed on academic achievement.

Please Note: If an applicant holds other UniSQ awarded scholarships, this may be taken into consideration in selection. There are some scholarships that cannot be held together.
