In Semester 1 2022, USQ will offer a number of USQ Equity Scholarships to support students experiencing financial hardship, who are commencing or continuing their studies in an undergraduate program at USQ.
The funding provided for this scholarship aims to ensure that Australians from low socio-economic status (SES) backgrounds, regional and remote areas of Australia and Indigenous students, who have the ability to study at university, are given the opportunity to do so. It allows universities to undertake activities and implement strategies to improve access to undergraduate courses for these groups, as well as improving the retention and completion rates of those students.
Each scholarship is for a maximum of two semesters (Semesters 1 and 2 2022) and will be paid per semester based on enrolment and subject to ongoing eligibility.
The scholarship will open again for applications in Semester 2 2022 for those students who did not apply or who did not receive the scholarship in the previous semester. Students who received the scholarship in Semester 1 2022 do not need to reapply.
Undergraduate students who identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person of Australia, and can provide evidence of heritage documentation, need only apply for the Indigenous Student Success Program (ISSP) Scholarships (open in January 2022). Successful recipients of the ISSP scholarship will automatically receive an Equity scholarship. There is no need to apply for both ISSP and Equity scholarships in 2022.
Please note: If your application for a USQ Equity Scholarship is successful, the funds will not be paid until approximately four weeks after the first census date in each semester.
If you are relying on a scholarship to purchase textbooks and resources, you may consider applying for an interest free Student Financial Loan. Please refer to the Student Financial Loan webpage for more information and application forms.
