Future Community Leader Scholarships

In 2018, USQ will offer ten Future Community Leader Scholarships for students commencing full-time study at USQ.  These scholarships are offered in recognition of students' participation in  the community and to provide maximum opportunity for students to start tertiary study at one of USQ's campuses.


Each scholarship will have a maximum value of $6000.


To be eligible applicants must:

  • be an Australian Citizen or have permanent resident status
  • have completed Year 12 in 2017
  • commence their studies in a bachelor degree in Semester 1, 2018
  • be enrolled in a minimum of 3 study units in each of Semester 1 and Semester 2 of each year of study
  • be studying on-campus, external or online
  • meet all pre-requisite requirements of their desired USQ program. This includes any audition or other requirements.

Selection criteria

Applicants will need to demonstrate a sound level of academic achievement by submitting the following documents in addition to the school report card from Semester 1 2017 and the community and leadership roles table in the application.
  • Community and Leadership supporting documentation such as letters of acknowledgement from community groups or school, certificates, awards, etc.
  • Submit a personal statement describing how study at USQ will support them to achieve their leadership aspirations, including
    • How this scholarship will assist their future aspirations and career goals
    • Why they chose USQ.

Participation in the completion of a USQ Change Makers project, or similar program, will be highly regarded as evidence of commitment to community.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student applicants who have received scholarships from Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation should include this information in their application.
