End stops and capital letters
- A full stop marks the end of a sentence. Question marks and exclamation marks are also end stops but are not used in academic writing.
- Capital letters have a number of uses, e.g., capitalise:
- the first word of a sentence
- proper nouns
- significant words in titles and headings.
