Simple sentences (2): a compound subject and a simple verb

  • Sometimes you have two subjects connected to the same verb.
  • This is called a compound subject.
  • A compound subject has more than one head noun (main noun) or pronoun.
  • The nouns or pronouns are linked by coordinating conjunctions:

A spider or a green ant (S) must have bitten (V) him.

My husband and I (S) agree (V).

Neither he nor she (S) said (V) anything.
