Subject-verb agreement

Subject-verb agreement with ‘to be’

  • When you use the verb to be (e.g. am/is/are/was/were), remember to change the form according to the subject:

you, we, they are / were

she, he, it is / was

  • Remember this when you use any verb in the continuous tenses or in the passive voice; for example:

It was made in Bangladesh.
