What documents should I provide?

The entry requirements for each program will give you an idea of the documentation to provide. These documents help us to verify that you meet the entry requirements and therefore, have every chance of succeeding at your studies. 

Previous study and qualifications

Previous study and qualification can include Senior studies/Year 12, preparation/pathway study, vocational, trades and traineeships, professional qualifications and tertiary study.

Acceptable documents include:

  • Official academic transcripts showing all subjects taken, all results, the key to the results or grading system, name of the award and proof of completion if applicable.
  • Official completed Certificate III or higher from a recognised institution, relevant government or issuing body.
  • Professional qualifications such as nursing/health qualifications from a registering body; completion certificates associated with music, dance, speech, drama.
  • Official awards where exams were taken as a result of membership of a professional association.
  • Service records for defence personnel such as a full PMKeyS statement or letter from your supervisor providing the same details or if discharged a Certificate of Service which states your rank upon discharge and dates of service 
  • For police and emergency services such as fire service and ambulance provide details of rank/occupation, length of service, division 
  • Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) may be submitted for all applicants other than Year 12 students

Please note: if you were excluded from tertiary study you should declare this in your application to study

Work experience 

Work experience can be used as entry to USQ programs however; different programs may require different types of work experience. Check the entry requirements for individual programs. Generally though work experience can be shown either of the options below.

  • Submit your Curriculum Vitae (CV) or professional LinkedIn profile which includes:
    • Organisation name
    • Position title
    • Start and end dates of employment for each position
    • Type of employment (full-time, part-time or casual)
    • Key duties, responsibilities and achievements.
    • Names, position titles and contact details of referees (employers or supervisors) who will be able to verify the nature of your work for the period of 2 years. 

Alternatively a statement from your employer will be accepted provided it includes the following elements:

  • The letter is written on official company letterhead
  • The letter is dated
  • For the position held: 
    • Organisation name
    • Position title
    • Start and end dates of employment for each position
    • Type of employment (full-time, part-time or casual)
    • Key duties, responsibilities and achievements.

If you are self-employed you should provide the same information but include a statement from either your accountant, solicitor or tax agent to verify. This should be provided on their official letterhead.

How should I present my documents?

When submitting your documents, please ensure they follow our recommended guidelines

English language proficiency

USQ’s English Language Proficiency Requirements Schedule outlines how you can meet English Language Proficiency. Supporting documents may include previous study and qualifications, work experience or official test results. All USQ programs have English Proficiency requirements which all students must meet to ensure the best chance of study success.

If you have approved English Proficiency test results which are no older than 2 years, please submit your official statement of test results.
